The Crowley Garden Club gave its January Garden of the Month Award to Lee and Tammy Hahn, whose residence is located at 710 N. Fifth St. The Hahns, who have lived there since 1995, enjoy the New Guinea impatiens and red hibiscus that can be found in their front flower beds. Although Lee does most the of the gardening, the whole family enjoys it. The club strives to highlight gardens that exhibit pride in ownership and promote interest in nature and responsible stewardship of natural resources. The Crowley Garden Club’s January Civic Beautification Award was presented to Privileged Beauty Bar, which is located at 510 W. Second St. and owned by LaQuinta Wycoff, right. Wycoff’s boyfriend handmade all six of the flower boxes that line the front of her new salon, and they are filled with arbequina olive patio trees, ornamental shrubs, and flowering shrubs, along with some other flowering plants. The boxes offer a welcome pop of color and are an example of how businesses can create their own planting spaces in areas where there are none. The Civic Beautification award is presented to businesses that exhibit pride in the community and try to instill pride in others in the community. CGC member Juliette Adams, left, was on hand to present the award.

The Civic Beautification Award was given to St. Michael Catholic School, which is located on East Northern Avenue. The Civic Beautification award is presented to businesses that exhibit pride in the community and try to instill pride in others. Receiving the award on behalf of the school were, from left, Penny Habetz, religion administrator, and Terri Hebert, principal. Club member Carol Trahan, far left, was there to place the sign.

On behalf of the club Trahan presented the Garden of the Month award to Mordi Hawkins, who lives on Riceland Drive. The Crowley Garden Club strives to recognize gardens that exhibit pride in ownership and promote interest in nature and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
