Alum James A. “Jim” Garland will receive an honorary doctorate of arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette during the College of the Arts Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 14. It will begin at 8 a.m. at the Cajundome. Garland, who founded Fluidity Design Consultants Inc., will also accept a SPARK Lifetime Achievement Award from the College of the Arts during the ceremony.
An internationally renowned designer of water features will receive an honorary doctorate of arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette during Spring 2021 Commencement ceremonies.

Notre Dame’s Blake Smith slides safely into home Saturday during the Pios’ 10-0 victory over Holy Savior Menard in the quarterfinal round of the Division III playoffs at Miller Stadium. The Pios will now take on No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m. Wednesday in a semifinal contest on Field 41 at Sulphur’s McMurry Park.
