Afternoon bridal shower honors Brooklynn Mire

RAYNE - Maison D’Memoire Bed and Breakfast of Rayne was the perfect setting on Sunday, Aug. 18, for an afternoon bridal shower held in honor of Brooklynn Rena Mire, bride-elect of Bryce Gregory Zaunbrecher.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Jackie and Becky Prejean of Branch and Jody and Nancy Mire of Lyons Point.
The prospective groom is the son of Randall and Roxanne Zaunbrecher and Kurt and Rachel Viator, all of Lake Arthur.
Hosting the 2 p.m. courtesy were Cheryl Muller, Jennifer D’Antoni, Nannette Millet, Gwen Foreman and Sue Ruppert.
A variety of refreshments was served to approximately 40 guests in attendance from Rayne, Crowley, Lake Arthur, Lafayette and Lake Charles.
Guests were treated to a delicious array of fruits, Swedish meatballs, Mexican and spinach dips and finger sandwiches.
A special sweet table was filled with chocolate-covered strawberries, dainty petit-fours, homemade brownies and a beautiful layered cream tart in the shape of a diamond ring.
The traditional venue was decorated with fresh flower arrangements, each containing a sprig of the groom’s fall rice crop. In addition, framed pictures of the couple’s courtship were noted on the guest tables and fireplace mantle.
The sign-in table held a precious picture of the couple posed in a rice field, a sign-in book and small packets of Rice Silk powder as favors to the guests.
For the special occasion, the honoree wore a sweet white eyelet lace A-lined dress. The sleeveless selection was embroidered at the waistline and featured a round neckline. She was presented shoulder corsage of spring roses.
Welcomed as special guests to the celebration were the bride’s high school teacher and mentor, Theresa Simoneaux, who inspired Brooklynn to pursue a career choice in education. Brooklynn and “Mrs. T” were very close in high school and spent countless hours together at convention and in planning school events.
The engaged couple will be married on Saturday, Oct. 5, during a 6:30 p.m. wedding ceremony at The Historic Cash and Carry in Lake Charles.
