Wolves fall short in key district contest

RAYNE - Home court advantage did not work out for an advantage on Friday as both the Wolves and Lady Wolves fell short in district contests against Carencro High.
The evening was also labeled “Senior Night” as both the Wolves and Lady Wolves played their last regular home contests.
In boy’s action, the Wolves fell to the Bears, 62-55 in a highly contested game.
The Bears used a strong second half of scoring to take the lead into the finale and win.
Leading Rayne scorers was Leon Smith with 17 points, followed by Jamarcus Richard with a dozen and Antonio Cormier with 11.
Dylan Gibson furnished eight points, while Dylan Menard and Kaleb Colomb each provided a trey.
The Wolves were scheduled to hit the road this week for their last regular games of the season, Tuesday at Westgate and Friday at St. Thomas More.
The following week is when post-season games will begin for the #19-ranked Wolves.
In the girl’s contest, Carencro took a 10-point lead in the first quarter of action and never looked back for the 47-33 win.
Scoring for Rayne were Braille Washington with 4 points, Torionna Charlot at 10 and nine by Kelsey Kelly.
