Wolves take top honors at Metro Tournament

LAFAYETTE - The Rayne Wrestling team captured top honors at the 2019 Lafayette Metro Wrestling Tournament held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Northside High School.
The Wolves claimed the tournament championship by outscoring runner-up Carencro High 171.5 points to 171.0 points.
The tournament consisted of 12 teams in the Lafayette area.
The tournament championship is Rayne High’s first individual tournament championship since 2012-2013 season.
Rayne High also brought home two individual weight class championships. Morgan Manuel claimed the 145-pound title and Miles Doucet took top honors at 182 pounds.
Doucet was also awarded the coveted “Outstanding Wrestler Award” for his performance. The honor is voted upon by area coaches.
Individual varsity winners are as follows:
Beau Perrodin - junior - 106 lbs. 3rd place;
Blaze Cormier - freshmen - 113 lbs. 4th place;
Reese Carrier - junior - 126 lbs. 4th place;
Ryder Hawley - sophomore - 132 lbs. runner-up;
Morgan Manuel - senior - 145 lbs. champion;
Emile Richard - junior - 152 lbs. runner-up;
William Billings - junior - 160 lbs. runner-up;
Miles Doucet - junior - 182 lbs. champion; and
Trevon Williams - freshmen - 195 lbs. 3rd place.
The Wolves were scheduled to participate in the “Battle of 87” this week when they face Church Point during “Senior Night” honors at Rayne High.
Wrestlers are tuning up for the State Tournament slated Feb. 8-9 at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City.
Rayne Invitational
The Rayne High Wrestling Team took home the team runner-up spot at the 2019 Rayne Invitational Wrestling Tournament held Saturday, Jan. 19, at Rayne High School.
The Wolves scored 242 points to the eventual champions, Basile High, who scored 279.5 points.
Individual place winners for the Wolves include:
Beau Perrodin - 106 lbs. champion
Jagar Boullion - 113 lbs. runner-up
Reese Carrier - 120 lbs. 3rd place
Ryder Hawley - 132 lbs. champion
William Billings - 160 lbs. champion
Ron Roberts - 170 lbs. runner-up
Miles Doucet - 182 lbs. champion
