Morgan seeks District 4 seat on Police Jury
Gordon Ray “G-Ray” Morgan, a Republican, is today announcing his candidacy for the District 4 seat on the Acadia Parish Police Jury.
Morgan and his wife of 38 years, Melanie Martin Morgan, have two children — Mandy Crozier and Zack Morgan — and five “precious grandchildren.”
Morgan’s formal announcement is as follows: “Born in Crowley, I spent the first 12 years of my life living on Jeanette Street right across from Miller Stadium. My elementary years were spent at South Crowley Elementary, where I met people that are still my friends today.
“After the death of my mom, we moved to Indian Bayou. I graduated from IBHS in 1977, where I also made lifelong friends. This has afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with people from Crowley and Rayne areas.
“I have experience in farm work, oilfield work, welding, carpentry and operating a business. Carpentry is what I love, so I have made it my career for the last 27 years.
“I have worked for several people in our district over the years and I’ve had discussions with them about the concerns we face as a community. Being a little older and having more time available to me, I’ve decided to try to help my community by becoming a police juror. My basic concerns are probably the same as most of yours: drainage, roads, ditches, trash, mosquito control and litter.
“I also understand that the jurors are responsible for many other things and I am looking forward to helping our parish operate as efficiently as possible.
“I will do my best and fight for what benefits my district and our parish. Whether you choose to vote for me or another candidate, we should all roll up our sleeves, get in the game and work to make Acadia Parish a better place.
“Thank you very much. Go vote!”
