Rayne principal-teacher combo honored by APSB
Christy Higginbotham and Angie Bourgeois were recognized by the Acadia Parish School Board during 2016-2017 principal and teacher of the year selections.
Principal at Central Rayne Kindergarten for the past six years, Higginbotham was recognized as Acadia Parish Elementary Principal of the Year.
Previously, she was instructional assistant at the school and has been employed in Acadia Parish for 25 years. She is married to James Higginbotham and has four children, Blake, Garrett, Zachary and Wesley.
Bourgeois was recognized as Acadia Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year.
She is currently a pre-k teacher at Rayne Kindergarten, where she has worked the last 12 years. Previously, she taught at Crowley Kindergarten and has been employed in Acadia Parish for 17 years.
She is the daughter of Bud and Judy Gautreaux of Rayne and is the mother of Angelle and Ava Bourgeois.
