Town of Church Point Court Clerk Cynthia Matte retired on Dec. 30 after 48 years on the job. Matte worked for four mayors in her almost 50 years as clerk, and those mayors were Harold Beaugh, Roger Boudreaux, Russell Stelly and current Mayor Ryan “Spanky” Meche.

Never a dull moment

What started out as a job offer from a pal turned into a nearly five-decade career for recently retired Town of Church Point Court Clerk Cynthia Matte.

This will be the first Midland High baseball team since 1961 and the first softball team in the school’s history.
