In the May 13 publication, The Crowley Post-Signal reported on an attempted “Emergency Condemnation” of this abandoned house. Horace Lewis and Citizens Against Blight (CAB) had appeared before the mayor and council at the May 11 regular monthly meeting to plead for this emergency declaration in hopes that the city would soon be able demolish it. This structure needed to be demolished in order to end a long history of it being a shelter for squatters and their illegal drug activity. Such activity included gunshots having been fired from or into this house or from drive-by vehicles on more than one occasion. Lewis and other residents at the meeting reported that stray bullets have actually hit nearby homes, continuously terrorizing the entire neighborhood. (See page 2)
