Mary Mae Klumpp
Mary was born in Mermentau on Aug. 8, 1930, to Clarence and Enita Benoit Landry. She was called to her Heavenly Father on April 13, 2019, while in the comforts of her home.
Mary was a supervisor at the Southwest Louisiana State School for many years. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends.
Mary was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church, a charter member of Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and Tee-Mamou Rosary Group. Mary was also a Commissioner of Elections and Friends of Zigler Art Museum.
She loved to cook especially for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and helping out on the farm. Mary was a kind and loving person and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her five sons, Gerald (Carol) Klumpp and Michael (Lynn) Klumpp, both of Lake Arthur, Walter Klumpp Jr. of Egan,, Ricky Klumpp of Morse, and Robert “Bobby” Klumpp of Tepetate; two daughters, Barbara (Ray) Richard of Kenner, and Rita Johnson of Central; her brother, William Holand Landry of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Rebecca Doucet of Jennings; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Mary now rests in Heaven with her parents, Clarence and Enita Landry; her husband, Walter Klumpp Sr.; grandchild Ted Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Winona Klumpp; and son-in-law, David Johnson; brothers, Chester Landry and Clarence Landry Jr.; and two sisters, Jean Lejeune and Daisy LeGros.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Mae Klumpp, 88 will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m. with Father Paul LaFleur officiating.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, April 15, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. led by the Catholic Daughter of America and Ladies Altar Society. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.
Mary will be laid to rest in St. Jules Mausoleum in Tee-Mamou.
