Shirley Mae Navarre Romero

A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Mae Navarre Romero, 75, of Rayne, was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
Father Samuel Fontana served as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.  Visitation continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Romero passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at 11:32 a.m. in Crowley.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy R. Saltzman and husband, Harry Lee of Rayne, and Christine R. Istre and husband Wayne of Rayne; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Romero of Crowley; sons, Terry Romero and wife Julie of Crowley, and Murray Romero and wife Joan of Indian Bayou; grandchildren, Heather Romero, Wilfred Romero III, Heidi Meaux, Dylan Romero, Dennis Romero, Nicholas Romero, Josie Hebert, Perry Romero II, Mandy Istre, Myra Istre, Wayne Istre II, Gaven Istre, Megan Istre, Taylor Istre, Crystal Abshire, Brandon Romero, and Nicole Alleman; step-grandchildren, Dustin LeBlanc, Cory LeBlanc, Bryce LeBlanc, Jessie Romero, Ashlyn Guidry, Jacob Istre, and Haylee Istre; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine-Love Istre, Jalaiana Istre, Evelynn Grace Istre, Schoen Desormeaux, Rhett Meaux, Donald Coffey, Always True Hebert, Breanna Hebert, Logan Abshire, Kristyn Abshire, and Kaylee Abshire.
Preceding Mrs. Romero in death were her husband, Wilfred James Romero Sr.; and three sons, Infant Perry J. Romero, Perry J. Romero I, and Wilfred J. Romero Jr.
Serving as pallbearers were Murray Romero, Wilfred Romero, Perry Romero II, Dennis Romero, Wayne Istre II, and Charlie Faulk.
Named as honorary pallbearers were Nicholas Romero and Wayne Istre I.
Giftbearers were Heather Romero, Heidi Meaux, and Myra Istre.
