A shooting in the Church Point area has left one man dead and a suspect arrested, according to a news release by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff's PIO charged with felony theft

Long-time Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office public information officer Maxine Trahan was booked into the Acadia Parish jail Friday on a charge of felony theft over $25,000.

By 9 a.m. Thursday, a man sweeping up between the aisles and another repairing the ice cream freezer were the only signs of the pandemonium which took place Tuesday at the Petro Station at the Estherwood/Iota Exit off of Interstate 10.

UPDATE: Child found safely

UPDATE: Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office announces that the missing 4-year-old child has been located and is safe.
According to a Nixle alert from the sheriff's office, authorities are searching for a 4-year-old child taken early Friday morning.
