Scott Freehan, executive director for Festival International de Louisiane, was the guest speaker for the Tuesday noon meeting of the Crowley Lions Club, explaining the behind-the-scenes task of putting on such an enormous event. This year’s festival will be held April 25-29. Welcoming him to the meeting are, from left, Tim Mader, program chairman; Freehan, Patti Lawrence, club president; and Dena Faulk, introduced as a new member of the local club.
Everyone thinks Festival International de Louisianae is just a big, long party in the streets of Lafayette, but it’s much more than that.
Members of the Crowley Lions Club learned about the COPS — Concerns of Police Survivors — program during their regular semi-monthly meeting Tuesday at The Rice Palace. Taking part in the program were, top photo from left, President Patti Lawrence, Lt. Wayne Perry, Law Enforcement Liaison, Southwest Regional Coordinator; Betty Newman, widow of the late Crowley Police Officer Richard Newman; and Ann Mire, program chair.
Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line daily to protect the citizens of our communities, state and nation.
