WACO, Texas – Blaise Foote of LSU Alexandria was selected as the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29, while LSUA's Will Vice collected the RRAC Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates. This is the first set of weekly honors for the 2023 baseball season.
Foote drove in nine runs as the Generals opened the season with a three-game sweep of 11th-ranked Oklahoma City University.
The sophomore first baseman from Gonzales went 5-for-12 in the series including a 3-for-5 performance in the middle game with three doubles and six RBIs as LSUA won, 15-11. Foote also tacked on a three-run triple as the Generals closed out with an 11-1 finale.
Vice, a former Notre Dame standout, limited OCU to one hit and one run in the last game of the series.
The sophomore lefty from Rayne, struck out seven and walked one in six innings of work while making his first appearance of the season.
Vice was named the Red River Athletic Conference Co-Freshman of the Year last year after compiling an 8-1 record and winning his first seven decisions of the season.
During his freshman season, he struck out 49 batters in 63 innings.
Vice was named to the RRAC All-Tournament Team after earning the victory over Houston Victoria in the finals of the conference tournament to reach the NAIA regionals in Oklahoma City.
